Specialized in Economic Geology (exploration- financial and technical assessment of mineral raw materials), and especially in exploration and evaluation of Marine mineral resources.

1987-1995: Visiting Professor at the Free University of Brussels in exploration and evaluation of submarine mineral raw materials

2008-2009: Visiting Professor at the Department of Geology, University of Toronto

1982-1989:National Representative of Greece in the DG XII, EEC for the R&D Programmes (Primary Raw Material)

1986-1989: National Representative of Greece in the DG III on Industrial policy especially for the mining industry

Director General of the Institute of Geology and Mineral Exploration (IGME), (Greek Geological Survey) between 1981-1989 and 2010-2013.

2012-2019: Member of the Operational Groups for the European Innovation Partnership on Raw materials in the EU (DG Enterprise and Industry).

2012-2014: Member of the working Group I of the EURECON Network at DG Enterprise and Industry of the EU, aiming to explore options for primary production of Rare Earths in the European Union
